P287 is a Leyland OPS3 full front coach new in 1951. On July 14th 1969 this 18 year old vehicle was found working the Galway to Sligo service, passing through Tuam. As built these coaches had 30 seats, but were altered later on to 35 or 39 seats, with some being rebuilt to rear entrance and others being fitted with a destination box. Judging by the number of open windows on the bus, it must have been a hot summer!!!! (Photo copyright Roger Newport).
