The second example of the only six new Daimler buses, DR2, ever purchased by CIE is seen on its regular haunt, route 72 from Oxmantown Road to O’Connell Bridge. Basically it comprises a pure pre-war style Leyland body, a wartime Daimler chassis (with tiny headlights), for post war service in a country which remained neutral throughout 1939 to 1945. It also highlights the dire shortage of new buses at the time that operators would buy ANYTHING that could move!! (Photo courtesy of the Transport Enthusiasts Club).
